Hey, all!
I've got to get this wicked bunny to stop distracting me & gnawing on my cerebral
cortex, so I'm drop-kicking it your way... Catch!
My life changed, again, on Thursday afternoon at a few minutes before four. That's when
Jim walked out of Simon's office and started packing up the few personal items he kept on
and in his desk. His face was, oddly, expressionless. I couldn't read it at all.
I sauntered over, worried. "What's up, Jim?"
He glanced around the crowded bullpen, shot a glare at Simon's door, and then said
quietly, "I've been let go."
"What?!"
"I've been fired, Chief, effective immediately."
My jaw dropped; I went preverbal. "Uh... wow...wow...why?"
"I'd rather not talk about it here."
My guts were twisting, aching. "Well, I guess I'll go get my stuff."
He grabbed my arm. "Just me. Not you. You're still a detective

I've been hounded by these plot bunnies for months or years in some cases. I'm not the
world's fastest writer, so I thought I would release them on this list (evil laughter

Elf
Ihket submits this
one:
Here's the scenario.....
Jim and Blair (of course, who'd you think Gilligan and The Skipper?)trapped in the sewers
of Cascade, hunted by a gang of thugs hired by a Psycho (Gun runner, drug dealer, mad
biochemist, pissed off newspaper boy....you choose). They have a limited time to get out
because at 1:13 AM the sewers are going to be flooded (Did I mention a terrorist is going
to blow a hole in the seawall? Hence the flooding? and only Jim and Blair know about it
and only they can stop it? No? Consider it mentioned.) Jim's sense of smell is overwhelmed
in the sewer and his other senses are spiking so he's having trouble keeping track of the
baddies and Blair is having a heck of a time keeping Jim centered. Things go from bad to
worse when Jim, in a moment of sensory confusion, looses his footing and takes a nasty
spill, hitting his head and rendering him sensless (Tee hee hee gotta love those puns) So
now it's up to our fearless guide to get them out, catch the baddies, stop the terrorist
and cook dinner. Can he do it? Should he even bother? Should this evil plot bunny die??
What do you think?
Gina asks:
I would love to see a story with Naomi having to move in with the boys, for an extended
period of time. How would Jim react? How would Blair? Come on, he loves his mom, but could
he really live with her for more than a few days without going berzerk? And how would
Naomi react to watching her son fall into step so well with a 'pig'?
Ceares issues this one:
How about this one, in honor of Rememberance. One of the cops from Rememberance mentions
Jim's statement to a friend or relative, who happens to work for evil government agency.
He sends someone to observe Jim, and then they either kidnap him, or arrange for him to go
to a *special* school, where he is basically raised as a lab rat(ala Pretender), with
mininal social skills(like he has any now).
Okay, this is where I'm of two minds, and either scenario works for me. Jim slowly
represses his senses, til by the time he turns 18 they are practically non existant. Not
knowing what a Sentinel is, the scientists think the senses dissapeared because of Jim
aging. They take sperm samples and send Jim out into the world... where he proceeds more
or less along the canon lines, joining the army etc... Meanwhile, Blair becomes a
scientist, and works for the agency. He finds Jim's files, and the tapes they made.
Becomes fascinated, without ever meeting him (Hey, I may have to write this after all as
part of my series, but feel free to write it anyway). Once he realizes what evil fascist
goons the agency is, he starts to really delve, and he finds out about the sperm samples
with which they have produced three children so far. (They had to search for the perfect
female candidates). He steals everything, and finds Jim. Once he convinces Jim that he is
trustworthy, they start a search for the children, and hook up with someone who is trying
to get rid of the agency, by proving that they are doing things they aren't sanctioned
for. (This person could be an OC, or one of the canon characters in a different role,
eg... Megan or Rafe)
Okay, the second scenario, has Blair going to work at the agency, but Jim is still there.
Blair was recruited specifically to study Jim. Jim has been trained by this point to
believe that the agency is looking out for his best interests. Blair is appalled and
slowly, as they work together, he starts to subversively *reprogram* Jim.
Or thirdly (hey, another idea even as I type) Blair is brought in forcibly to help Jim,
and together they have to escape the agency. I know this has been done before, but not per
se with a lot of non torturous lab stuff. (I don't see them as physically or emotionally
torturing Jim, just manupulating and testing him.) B> I see this group as very
*underground* similar to the Initiative on BtVS... as a matter of fact, in my plot bunny,
it is the Initiative, complete with evil Dr. Walsh's plans to make super humans.(If you're
going to steal, steal from the best ;-) What can I say, I'm not even a big *evil
scientist* fan, but this is laying around in my head, so somebody write it, please!
This one is from qwertyuiop:
Hi! This is a bunny that chanced to wander by, and needs a home, 'cos it didn't like me
too well. I've come across several discussions and stories about Jim and Blair's
childhoods, and the kind of parents Naomi and William are. What do you think they would be
like if they'd had each others' parents instead? There are lots of different bunnys this
could give birth to...
Pro-Nature:
Jim doesn't want to be any more a freak than being Naomi's child would make him, and
represses his senses wanting to be as normal as possible. Blair's sunny nature makes
William loosen up, or he just runs off to Rainier on a scholarship as soon as he can.
Pro Nurture:
Jim is all sunshiny enthusiasm! Blair the grumpy repressed anthropologist.
And, from Rebeka Black:
I have this idea for a story... Has anyone seen a commercial for that new Bruce Willis
movie? I think it's called "The Kid," but my memory is fairly awful. At a crisis
point in the main character's life, his younger self magically comes to the future to
interact with him. I could DEFinitely get into young Blair or young Jim coming to visit.
Anyone want this one?
Again, from Gina :
Blair...still in college....is doing a radio show on the campus radio station....
what would he play? what would he say? And would Jim call in for some reason?
And yet another from Gina
Write a story with either of the below sentences in it:
Damn it, Jim. I'm an anthropologist, not a doctor!
or
He's (or it's) dead, Jim!
From Fran:
I have a plot bunny for The Sentinel: for the episode
Killers
When Simon, Jim, and Blair go to check out the last killing,
when Simon tells Blair to stay outside. Instead of Beverly
being kidnapped Blair could have been kidnapped instead. Then
you could have Blair owwwwies Jim comforts and Jim and Simon
guilts LOL.
Just a thought
From Patt :
Guide With Giant Heart
BLair saves Jim's life at work, for the umpteenth time. He is almost
killed this time and Jim is really upset. He wants to tell him not to
do it, but since he is a cop now, he has no choice. Blair is doing
his job. He can't sleep, he can't eat. So while he is sleeping,
Incacha comes to see him. He must explain that Blair is always going
to be this. He gives him chopec name, that means, Guide with giant
heart. THis describes Blair to a t. E, tells him that he has to learn
to trust his guide more and start letting him do his job. Jim must
let go, must find a way to calm himself and let his guide be who he
is. And in turn he finds out just how big his heart is.
Shafted
Jim gets shafted by someone in the police department and Blair is the
only one that seems to believe his story. He is of course not guilty.
But for some reason every9one seems to think he is. Now he and Blair
are up to their elbows in trying to figure it out before Big Jim has
to go to Prison. And with Jim in jail, Blair has to do most of the
leg work by himself. Until one night, Simon, Rafe, Joel, Brown and
Conner come by with things to help him in the search. They are all on
this man hunt, or they will lose a good cop to prison. Who is behind
this, why are they framing Jim? And what will save him?
Courage
The story about Blair and how he tries to rebuild his life after TSbyBS. Showing his amazing courage and strength. He does go to the PA and does so well that everyone is shocked. He also starts being Jim's partner and does it well too. But Jim sees that something is wrong. He watches as his partner falls victim to his own obfuscations. And who is the real couragous one, as Jim lets him out of something that he just can't do.
From crowswork:
In the early days, how did poor Jim handle being
around women. I
mean, he would be able to smell if they'd had sex, if they were
aroused, ovulating, or anything else.
men think about sex a lot more than women, and men are kind of obvious about being
aroused, while women can hide
it well--except from Jim.
And you know he would NEVER ask Blair for help controling this. (Gen
remember) "Find your horneyness dial and turn it...."
From UnicornLr
While watching a documentary recently on Mt. St. Helens, I did some counting. Now if Jim was around 10-11 in 1973, he would have been around 17-18 when the mountain exploded. Since I'm nearly 2000 miles away from the west coast and did not live through those tragic events, I'm certainly not qualified to write about them. What if while Blair and Jim were channel surfing on day, they ran up on a documentary. Do you see Blair as the type to miss the opportunity to get the viewpoint of someone who was in the area and experienced the ash, darkness, etc.--firsthand? I remember from other documentaries that many of the family members didn't know that their loved ones were NOT in areas that were considered dangerous. The way the blast occurred caused it to extend beyond patroled/marked boundaries. Put your true events in a story, so those lives will be remembered.
From crowswork:
Any one ever read a Twin Peaks/Sentinel story. I mean it does seem to be the sort of nice little town the guys would end up visiting.
Another from crowswork:
I was watching "what dreams my come"
and thought someone (not me)
should do this as a 'death story' to TS. The notion that someone could mourn the death of
thier soul mate to the point of throwing thier lives away.
Maybe someone with an overdeveloped sense of responsibility, WHo -
feeling guilty about thier friend dying to save them - would goad a
teflon type gangster into killing them - publicly. Only to end up hell. OF course the hell
is of thier own making. A self imposed punishment for thier 'crimes'. And it would be up
to the late friend to leave his heaven and storm hell to rescue his friend. The person in
hell doesn't recognise
their soulmate, and it takes the ultimate sacrifice (If you won't come to
heaven with me-I'll stay in hell with you) to make them see the light.
I loved the line--Good people end up in hell because they can't forgive themselves--
PS I alread did my 'death' story. I think we each have at least one.
From Dragon Fox:
I watched Hannibal last night. The movie of Hannibal Lector and his taste for the human body, and his prefrence to eat "RUDE" people. Also his fascination with Starling, and the fact that he would cut off his own hand, rather then hurt her. What if Hannibal came to Cascade and became interested in Blair. Or perhaps both Jim and Blair. What if Starling is not the only one he has "affection" for. What if at one time Blair knew Hannibal by another name, and he was at one time a potential father? What if the reason Naomi moves around and has never told Blair about his father, is that Hannibal is his father.Use these sentences above together or separate.
From Kata:
During Sen Too, Blair stays at the hospital and Jim goes off to Peru with Simon. Simon
comes back with the nerve gas, but Jim stays behind, with Alex. One year later, Blair's
living at the loft. He does not know what's happened to Jim. No one has heard of him. Then
one evening, Jim shows up at the door with a baby (three guesses whose). Hopefully some
kind soul will adopt the poor bunny.
From Crowswork:
this is gen, but if you want to take it slash you could.
AU-Idea
In this one instant a new universe is born. Enraged, Jim leaves Blair's office and Blair catches up to him. He warns him about the zone out and Jim strides away annoyed. The kids pick up their Frisbee and go home.Jim fakes out V. Sarris with a false death report in the bombing at the final bombsite. Thinking Jim dead, Sarris makes a mistake and is captured.Blair goes to HQ to try again to see Jim and arrives just as the sunrise patriots take the place over. Blair still makes a good account of himself, but this time Jim isn't as stable his senses are completely uncontrolled. He and Simon arrive a moment too late and some of the hostages are shot. By the time Jim gets to the roof, the chopper with Kincaid and Blair is too far away.Jim watches the video of the kid from Rainier, talking to Kincaid, stalling him and saving lives. His senses are getting more erratic and the only person who can help him is in the hands of a madman.Meanwhile, Blair figures that Kincaid is a latent sentinel rapidly coming on line. The homophobic madman only knows that he `needs' this Blair and misunderstands his own feelings. He wants to touch him, so he hits him.
Anyone want this one? I suck at owwies.
From Crowswork: Alec returns as a 18 yr old. He has several degrees and has decided to emulate his hero Blair. He never bought the Press conference and thinks he has the whole sentinel/guide thing figured out. Now HE wants a sentinel of his own. He gets a job at the high security hospital where Alex is held and tries to become her guide.Does she use him or does he use her and where could this pair end up?Plot bunnies from Ami
#1:
Take your favorite pair, add another of your favorite pairs, have them meet and go camping, go out to dinner, rescue someone, kill someone, fight someone, save the world, together. Basically, take two different pairs from two different fandoms and have them meet and do something together. I call this the Crossover Togetherness challenge.
# 2:Take your favorite fairytale; add your favorite pair, let sit and serve. Basically, take your favorite fairytale and replace the main characters with your favorite pair. I call this the Fairytale challenge.
# 3:
Take your favorite pair, and have them get a cat, change into a cat, act like a cat, pet a cat, whatever. Include a cat. I call this the Kitty-Cat challenge.
From Jenifer:
Jim and/or Blair is forced to father a child. Neither they nor the mother are consenting, but if they don't do it, someone will die. The mother should either be someone they work with or a stranger who is much too young for them under normal circumstances. At least one angry parent under major misconception about the circumstances is required.

I considered making her Jim's great-aunt and have them go to England for Jim to collect an inheritance. If anyone else would like to run with this idea, go right ahead.
From Irene:
In this one, Blair has been slowly developing this ability to sense the events of a murder scene. He's not psychic, he can't predict events or anything. But he's become so accurate at painting a picture of the crime, that the MC gang is using him as an unofficial profiler. I imagine him having flashes of the crime but not really able to see faces. He gets 'feelings' about people that are also dead on and has made him nervous about getting close to people. Except Jim of course <g>. It could be a modern day manifestation of his supposed shaman role. This story would take place after he's been a cop for a couple of years. He's not the wimpy, emotional, afraid of guns guy that is often portrayed in fanfic. I want to see him strong, compassionate, and confident of his place as Jim's partner. But there's plenty of room for some good old fashioned smarm and angst.Another one from Irene:
I'm throwing out this story idea/challenge to anyone who wants to adopt it. I've looked for a story with this theme but haven't found one yet.
Post TSbBS in after Blair becomes a cop. He's approached by the father of a young man who has been committed to a psychiatric hospital after exhibiting severe schizophrenia. The father, after following the whole dissertation media event has begun to suspect that his son was telling the truth when he spoke of hearing and seeing things that others could not. Unfortunately, Blair freaks out when the guy being up the sentinel topic in the bullpen and doesn't want to have anything do with him or his son. Between Alex Barnes and the dissertation being leaked (and now a new partnership with Jim)he's not too fond of the idea of another possible sentinel in town. Problem is, he starts to think about the boy's situation. Blair struggles with the idea that there may be other people out there like the boy in the institution who will never be helped because he has to stay quiet for Jim's sake. He starts to get distracted and depressed and eventually Jim finds out.I envision major angst for Blair. Major angst for Jim as well who has to realize how his selfishness is going to affect other people like him.
If you know of a story with this theme, please let me know. If you want to accept the plot bunny, let me know too. I'll want to read it :-)
